The First Congregational Church of Chebogue was established in 1766. This building is the third incarnation of the church and the second on this location. The first building was built a short distance away in 1776 and was called the Chebogue Meeting House. The second church was built on this site in 1820.
The Musquodoboit Bicentennial Theatre and Cultural Centre, a 3 level wooden building, was constructed in 1928 by the people of Middle Musquodoboit as meeting hall for the 'Old Fellows Lodge'.
The original establishment, a five-bay, hipped roof structure with a central main door facing St. John's Church square, was built c. 1775 as the first Lunenburg Courthouse. By 1890, the Court House had become run down and the Chief Justice of the time declared he would not hold court unless the building was repaired.
The original church on this site was consecrated in July 1850 (construction 1847-1850). It was funded in part by honourable Nova Scotians H.H. Cogswell and J. Inglis Haliburton, Esquire.
The late Victorian home was built in 1876 by Alexander Silver Senior. It is speculated that the house may have been constructed as a wedding gift for Mr. Silver's son. Nevertheless, for the next 34 years or so the home would see many different owners.
East Hants Historical Society Museum (forner Lower Selma-Noel Shore United Church)
The Classical Revival church was built in 1865 by William Wiswell of Halifax with the aid of James Corston of Halifax and Gilmore McLellan of Noel Shore. It opened its doors on September 24th of that same year and was originally named the Lower Selma Presbyterian Church.
The construction of the property began in 1802 by builder Daniel de Wolfe, son of Gabriel de Wolfe, a planter who arrived in Nova Scotia in 1764. Note: the construction date of the home is listed as 1802-1839.
Daniel, a notable citizen of Wolfville, married Mary Anne Pryor and together the couple raised 16 children in the home.
