Catalogue info: The house was built in 1903 for Captain Alexander Isaac Young (1857-1925) and his wife Henrietta Letitia. The house was owned by the Young family until 1985. Stencilled ceiling and free-hand mock fireboard in the left front room of the first floor, artist unknown, 1903. Oil on plaster. Marbelized mantel and grained mantelpiece in the left front room of the first floor, artist unknown, 1903. Oil on wood. This parlour ceiling has a stencilled geometric border with a vase of flowers at each of the four corners and a stylized rose with imitation plaster border in the centre. The mantel is marbelized in pale grey paint and the mantelpiece is grained. The mock fireboard is framed with a blue drape framing a seascape.
